Intelligent Design Theory
The followers of the Intelligent Design movement have developed a scientific theory based on the presupposition that life, in all of its complexity, could only be the result of an intelligent project. For the followers, the projectionist
is not necessarily God, and seek objectivity in origins science, without any religious assumption. On the other hand, they reject the Theory of Evolution.
Proof of the Intelligent Design
Theory – The Immeasurable
Proof of this theory is the object of skepticism by its detractors, principally because it posits an agent that can never be observed, have his intellectual quotient measured, have his strength evaluated, etc. as would be done in the classical scientific method. To this skepticism they add the negation that the Theory is worthy of this name and that it is not even a scientific formulation.
The Postulate
It is a mistake to think that engaging in science means following the pattern of observation, measurement, conclusion, and formulation of principles or general laws. Although these steps do occur, what frequently happens is, first, the formulation of a hypothesis (or hypotheses) starting from
one’s own knowledge or that of others, followed by verification
(to determine whether the hypothesis is true or false). To
make the verification, one may include postulates. For example, Albert Einstein could not have concluded that time is relative if he had not postulated that the speed of light is constant. Equally, it makes no difference if one postulates the designer of the Universe as the God of the Bible, a goddess, various gods, or some other superior intelligent force. What
matters is the evolution from research.
The Intelligent Design Theory has encountered
a great deal of resistance from the evolutionists as well as from fundamentalist creationists.
