Creation vs. Evolution Links
Macroevolution
Macroevolution is the change that occurs at the level of species, family, phylum, and genus. For example, when
we talk about human evolution, of the origin of the species, we
are talking about the transformation from the chimpanzee through
the fusion of two chromosomes. The process began with a species
with 24 chromosomes in the sex cells –the chimpanzee–and ended with individuals that continued to carry 24 chromosomes,
the chimpanzee, as well as others with 23 chromosomes, the precursor
of modern man, a species very different from the chimpanzee. This
same process can also take place with bacteria and this is the
way of macroevolution
On the other side of the coin is another evolutionary phenomenon called microevolution. Microevolution occurs within a species; insted, it causes some differences among individuals of that particular population. For example, if we admit that the species that arose from the chimpanzee had black
skin, then over a period of time there would appear individuals
with brown skin. The change in skin color involves change within
the chromosomes and genes, but the individuals continue with 23
chromosomes in the sex cells.
